Apr 28th 2010, 16:23 |
nurvzy |
savant: because that takes development hours and I'm fine with SVN. =) |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:22 |
savant |
nurvzy: why not use something like capistrano with remote-cache or something? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:22 |
savant |
nurvzy: like there isn't git installed so you can't deploy easily? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:22 |
ADmad |
i am certainly not which i why i only mentioned the free option i know :P |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:21 |
nurvzy |
ADmad: if you're going to pay monthly, might as well go with github. =) |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:21 |
ADmad |
projectlocker is one which give free private git |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:21 |
nurvzy |
ADmad: they offer git, but there is a monthly subscription. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:20 |
nurvzy |
ADmad: no, only free svn repos. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:20 |
nurvzy |
savant: github is great, but my host of choice doesn't support git yet. So I'm stuck with SVN for now. So whatever solution I go with there has to be an SVN option. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:20 |
ADmad |
nurvzy: xpdev doesnt give free private git repos does it ? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |

what does it take to host an irc channel? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |
savant |
hmmmm |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |
nurvzy |
savant: or I could just offer it up as json/xml whatever you prefer. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |
nurvzy |
savant: you could parse that. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |
savant |
not github? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:19 |
nurvzy |
savant: I could make one on my site http://www.webtechnick.com |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:18 |
nurvzy |
savant: I may be talked into moving all my public repositores into google code or something. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:18 |
savant |
nurvzy: true. do you have a profile page perhaps, that shows all of your public repositories? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:18 |
nurvzy |
savant: Indeed, its not exacly the best code solution, but it was the only one I could find that offered free private as well as public repos. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:14 |
nurvzy |
savant: I see, is there not a way to add a projects via repository only? Does it have to flow that way User->Repos->CakePHP repo |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:14 |
savant |
nurvzy: not even sure how I would associate the repositories from xpdev to your user if there isn't some association between them (there doesn't seem to be a profile page for you) |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:13 |
ADmad |
nurvzy: true there are no guidelines against duplicate/similar publications. but i don't see this one providing any new info/code to the community. plus i am not too thrilled about the idea of components for image manipulation. i would rather have it as a behavior or helper if you wanna do it on the fly |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:13 |
savant |
it's how I work github. grab all of a user's repositories, classify them, add if they are cakephp repositories |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:12 |
savant |
nurvzy: so that way the metadata I collect from a user or a repository remains updated. |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |
savant |
ie. json that defines how one would get the git format of an svn repo |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |
nurvzy |
savant: Then why do you need the API from xp-dev? |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |
savant |
so that way I can serve them up in different forms |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |
savant |
and I also am in the process of cloning the repositories |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |
savant |
its just metadata I collect |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:11 |

nothing really |

Apr 28th 2010, 16:10 |

Apr 28th 2010, 16:09 |

We're not being consistant. |

Apr 28th 2010, 16:09 |
nurvzy |
ADmad: I personlly don't see the harm in publishing it. It's not poorly written, he provides code and an example. He's followed all the rules in the Bakery Guideline. If we're not goint to publish it because the are "many" tools out there, then we should add that clause to the Bakery Guidelines. We |

looks like xpdev doesn't have an api, I might have to scrape them if they don't respond to the twitter request |

Apr 28th 2010, 16:07 |

tell him to shove it onto github or something if it isn't already up |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:07 |
ADmad |
nurvzy: feedback probably yes, having it published probably not imo |
# |
Apr 28th 2010, 16:06 |
nurvzy |
ADmad: I don't disagree there are TONS of image resizing tools, but he took the time to create one and publish it, at the very least we should provide feedback. |

Apr 28th 2010, 16:04 |
ADmad |
nurvzy: there are dozens of image resizing components/behaviors/plugins out there i dont see why we need this one too :) |
