but the "JSON" type does not exist with MariaDB, it's a "LONGTEXT" so cakephp have some trouble |

I have a JSON column in my database, which pulls in data from a remote data source. These are tv channels, and they have a ‘category’, but in my front-end I would like to organise them by category. Does anyone have any thoughts? I can only think of using a Collection, but I’m sure MySQL can do some funky stuff with JSON right? |

Yeah figured as much. It's because my AppController does some extra Auth stuff and sets some variables in $this, but turns out now I need them in the cell too |
