yup 1.3 is very near stable release... anyways i can publish your article.. just add a note at the very top of you article that in 1.3 you should use the virtualFields features and following this trickery is not necessary |

Hmm. What if I were to restructure it as a brief introduction to virtual fields, with a 1.2 fallback option? I won't be able to for a little while, but would that make it more useful? |
