# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 achew22 it is external, but 1.2 is in the RC phases
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 achew22 so its pretty damn stable

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 thestaff k
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 achew22 and 1.2 is much better supported by the channels/forums

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 thestaff prototype
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:45 achew22 does prototype have a built in function for modal windows?

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:46 thestaff and this as well scriptaculous.js?load=effects
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:46 achew22 batcoder-7: how are you doing it?

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:48 thestaff so yes
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:48 achew22 batcoder-7: use the tree helper with an order clause
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:48 achew22 does the demo work from their site?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:48 thestaff well i used this http://modalbox-cakephp-demo.nerdnotes.org/customers/index/page:1/sort:first_name/direction:asc
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 thestaff and the step by step is this : http://nerdnotes.org/2008/02/28/combining-modalbox-cakephp/
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 thestaff and I don't really get the same
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 thestaff tho I wish ;-)
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 batcoder-7 but it will be like this , tab one => then like when you click it it will show below that maybe 5 or 6 links
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 achew22 are you sure this is the best fit for you? now is the time to jump ship like a rat and move to another framework
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:49 batcoder-7 achew22: ^
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:50 achew22 batcoder-7: use the tree helper/behavior with an order clause
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:50 batcoder-7 will that be better then doing it manualy?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:50 achew22 very very very much
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:50 achew22 at least use the tree helper
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 achew22 you can do it manually for the table but the helper is just so damn good
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 batcoder-7 i have nnot used either so i have to look it up
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 batcoder-7 table ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 thestaff achew22, did you say that for me ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 achew22 database table?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 thestaff do you think it'd change to upgrade to 1.2 ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 batcoder-7 sorry didnt know who you were talking too achew22
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 thestaff yeah same here
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:51 achew22 okay one sec I'll type them to the people with prefixes
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:52 thestaff ;-)
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:52 batcoder-7 i have never really made a dynamic menu like this before so yea
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:52 achew22 thestaff: I think you would have fewer problems if you go to 1.2 but I also (personally) don't like scriptaculous or prototype. I much prefer jQuery for their plugins. This is more of a javascript issue and I may not be able to help you but if you are in jquery I can definitely help more
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:52 batcoder-7 trying to do it the best wya possible from the beginning
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:53 thestaff i'm fine changing to jquery
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:53 thestaff would i be able to do the same thing ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:53 achew22 batcoder-7: start off by looking over the tree behavior in the book then look at the tree helper -- it has the ability to generate and maintain the system you desire without you writing much code
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:53 batcoder-7 you know what i am trying to do though right ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:53 achew22 thestaff: very much yes you would be able to do the same thing. on the site wildbit.com they even reference some other similar projeccts that run on other frameworks
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:54 achew22 batcoder-7: you want to have a drop down menu system for your site stored in the db?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:54 batcoder-7 no no hehhehe
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:54 achew22 ah, then explain what you want again. that could be the problem
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 batcoder-7 achew22: ok, Home - Services - contact us << say these are 3 tabs in the main page
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 achew22 OKAY
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 achew22 wow

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 achew22 capslock
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 achew22 ACTION is calm
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 batcoder-7 when you click home or should i say it will already be there below that will be maybe 5 05 links
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 batcoder-7 or*
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 achew22 5 or 6 links?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:55 batcoder-7 yea
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:56 achew22 do you want something like this? http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/tutorials/testMenu.html

# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 achew22 show me a sample of what you are emulating
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 batcoder-7 paypal.com achew22
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 batcoder-7 forget the drop downs though dont want drop downs
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 achew22 okay
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 batcoder-7 but see hwos theres a top level menu and then a child menu below it ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 achew22 this is totally a tree problem still -- sorry
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:57 batcoder-7 depending on which top level menu item is selected
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 yep, it's a tree thing if you want to do it the right way
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 you can do it between two tables
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 batcoder-7 yea i want to do it the right way
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 batcoder-7 tables ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 but a tree would make this easier
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 you want to store them in a database right?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 so that they can be edited?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 batcoder-7 no no hardcoded
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:58 achew22 oh... lame
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 batcoder-7 this is a menu i dont need it from the db ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 thestaff achew22, so I remove the prototype javascript and know I get fowarded to the view I wanted inside the modal boc
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 achew22 that involves way less sexy CS magic
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 batcoder-7 you dont plan on chnaging menu navigatio nevery day
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 thestaff to replace prototype with jquery do I just change script ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 batcoder-7 why would anyone pull there sites menu system from a db ?
# Aug 7th 2008, 01:59 achew22 batcoder-7: I have the site index in the db and when I put new features in (most days) the menus change automagically
# Aug 7th 2008, 02:00 batcoder-7 this menu will never change ;)
# Aug 7th 2008, 02:00 achew22 okay then this is a CSS thing
# Aug 7th 2008, 02:00 batcoder-7 itsn ot like a blod or something where it has to pull new stuff
